Three Board Members Announced

Girls Incorporated® of Long Island is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members of its Board of Directors:  Catherine Custance, Christopher Mazzei and Joseph Muccia.  “We are delighted to welcome our three new Board members, and believe that they will each be able to contribute to our mission of serving girls in unique and special ways,” said Margaret Lupardo, Co-President of Girls Inc. of Long Island.

Catherine Custance
      
Catherine Custance currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Local 418 of the Civil Service Employees Association of New York, and works as a mental hygiene therapy aid for the NYS Department of Mental Health at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood.  Throughout her career, Ms. Custance has worked to improve the welfare of mentally, socially and economically disadvantaged youth.  She is dedicated to the empowerment of women and gender equity in the workplace, and has won several awards for her advocacy on behalf of victims of domestic violence.

Christopher Mazzei
 
Christopher Mazzei is the Director of Strategy for the Americas at Ernst & Young, where he serves as an advisor advises E&Y’s executive board on various strategic planning and development matters, risk management and monitoring key market and competitive trends.  During his tenure at E&Y, Mr. Mazzei has advised major corporations on strategic and financial planning matters.  He also has a background in operations research, industrial engineering and business administration, and has volunteered his time and efforts to help in the Port Washington school district and other organizations.

Joseph W. Muccia

Joseph W. Muccia is a partner at Thompson Hine, LLP, a national law firm, in the Litigation Department of its New York office.  His practice involves commercial litigation for a broad range of clients regarding employment, corporate, insurance, credit and other commercial disputes.  Mr. Muccia has also been appointed as a mediator and arbitrator of commercial and employment disputes.  As part of a large family with many nieces of all ages, he has been engaged by the issues faced by young girls, including the development of self-image, and believes that that the issues girls will face in the job market are ones he deals with regularly in his work as an employment law counselor and litigation attorney.
