School-Based Program
An afterschool, interactive & evidence-based program that bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-life skills, empowering girls to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

What's Included?
The School Partnership Program is a yearlong commitment to providing the Girls Inc. Experience. In addition to signature curriculum, program participants receive opportunities to gain exposure to real-world opportunities and meet with female leadership from across the NYC metropolitan area through field trips and guest workshops.
All program sessions are led by trained Program Facilitators in pro-girl spaces.
Each school partnership includes: School-time recruitment workshops, weekly afterschool sessions (up to 2 hours) for up to 30 girls for the duration of the school year, program materials, snacks, 1 school-time field trip, and access to special Girls Inc. events.

Curriculum
All School Partners receive the comprehensive Girls Inc. Curriculum:
MIND+BODY®: Girls develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes through four focus areas that are critical to be in charge of their bodies and sustain a healthy, positive sense of self: body image, nutrition, stress management, and physical activity.
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS/SEXUALITY®: Girls learn to identify, establish, and cultivate healthy relationships through assertiveness and negotiation skills. They develop critical thinking skills and practice effective decision making about their bodies.
ECONOMIC LITERACY®: Girls learn about money and the economy, including how to budget, manage, invest, and save money.
FRIENDLY PEERSUASION®: Girls develop skills to resist pressure to use harmful substances, such as drugs, alcohol, tobacco and household chemicals, and develop communication skills to address peer & media pressure.
MEDIA LITERACY®: Girls increase their awareness of the scope and power of the media, including the effects of social media and cyberbullying.
OPERATION SMART®: Girls develop an enthusiasm for and skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY ACTION®: Girls build leadership and advocacy skills and create social change through community action projects.
POST SECONDARY READINESS/CAREER EXPLORATION: Girls gain exposure to a variety of industries and career opportunities through field trips and guest presentations from female professionals. Girls gain life skills such as communication, resume writing, and interview practice.
