Girls Inc. of Long Island serves girls ages 5-18 across Nassau and Suffolk County. Our research-based programming is delivered by trained professionals who focus on the development of the whole girl, supporting, mentoring, and guiding girls in an affirming, pro-girl environment.
We offer a holistic approach that addresses the whole girl, physically, socially, emotionally and academically, helping them to successfully navigate the world.
Here, girls learn to value their whole selves, discover and develop their inherent strengths, and receive the support they need to navigate the challenges they face. Girls Inc. girls live healthy and active lifestyles and are less likely to engage in risky behavior; they are eager to learn, successful in school, and more likely to graduate from post-secondary education; and they display diligence, perseverance and resilience.
Our school-based programs include research-based core curricula, which address specific issues related to education, health and safety, and community action. Through their school, girls participate in 30 weekly sessions between October and May for ongoing engagement and the full Girls Inc. Experience.
Girls Inc. of Long Island’s summer programs offer girls unique experiences that go beyond classroom learning. From climate science at Brookhaven National Laboratory to taking their first swing at golf, there’s something for every girl to enjoy.
Our community programs empower girls to be leaders today and in their futures through college and career readiness, academic concentration, and mastering leadership skills.
Trained facilitators who build lasting, mentoring relationships. Our staff take the time to engage with families, encourage girls to pursue leadership positions, and serve as role models.
A pro-girl and girls-only environment that is physically, socially and emotionally safe and confirms that girls can succeed and deserve to be taken seriously for the persons they are now and the women they will become.
Research-based, intentional curricula that confront the serious needs of girls while building the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to enable girls to be competent, confident individuals.
